| dc.description.abstract | Safe disposal of unused medicines has become a topic of discussion for most researchers across the globe. This is due to the fact there has been a significant increase in unsafe disposal of unused medicines or expired medicines which negatively impacts the environment, i.e., environmental pollution and loss of both human and aquatic life. Hence, this research aims at comparing the safe disposal practices in both India and Ireland. The general objective of this research involves determining the safe disposal methods of unused medicines in India and Ireland. Safe disposal practices of unused medicines involve taking back the unused medicines to the manufacturer, physician, or pharmacist so that they can safely dispose of them. Various research studies have compared the safe disposal of unused medicines in several countries, but none have compared the proper disposal of unused medicines in India and Ireland, which have two different regulatory systems. The research methodology in this research has used an survey that utilizes a mix of qualitative as well as quantitative approach. Online survey questions were sent out to a total of 75 research people who participated in this research, i.e., patients/consumers, physicians, and pharmacists. Secondary research was helpful to this research as it acted as a foundation of this research. The conclusion in this thesis has mainly been based on the overall perspective of the safe disposal practices used in both India and Ireland. This research will be helpful to future researchers as well as the disposal systems of India and Ireland at large by providing suggestions on how they can be improved. | |
